Holly

This is Holly, a beautiful Japanese Chin, the first of this breed to appear on Riviera Dogs. Pretty Holly may have Japanese origins but she lives in Denmark with her very nice owner, who kindly allowed me to photograph her here sitting near to the beach, in Menton.

Lody

Lody's most helpful owner posed him for me several times but the sun was bright and the shadows were difficult. I hope, tho, you can see what a very smart Labrit he is. Yes, that's what they call a Berger de Pyrénées in France and Monaco. You see him here crossing Boulevard Albert 1 in Monaco below.

BKCFOC Theme: Ears or Whiskers

It's time for the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos and the theme is ears or whiskers.
~~~~~
As you can see, I have two different colored ears - one mostly tan and one mostly gray! And I have very good hearing - Yes, I can hear the can opener opening a can of tuna from anywhere in the whole entire house,
including my screened-in porch!
~~~~~
Since I have a lot of white on my face,
my whiskers don't show up so much
which is why I picked this picture with a darker background.
Well, it shows off my eyelashes anyway!
Today's Festival is being hosted by Mog
over at Mind of Mog - visitors are always welcome!
The Carnival of Cats is also today
but in the process of being relocated
and right now I can't find out who the new host will be...
~~~~~
UPDATE: The Carnival was graciously hosted at This, That and the Other Thing by Mouse, Indigo, Kosmo and Amber!
~~~~~
Thanks to Astrid, Kashim & Othello for the new festival graphics!

Remembering Kallie

I just heard some sad news this morning
that Jeter and Mickey lost their sister, Kallie.
She lived at their house for 17 1/2 years
and was a very much loved and special cat.
Here is my candle for Kallie:

Wonderful Wednesday

In October China Cat and I, along with Dragonheart,
won Samantha & Tigger's 10,000th Comment Contest.
We received a gift box
but my Food Lady didn't give it to us right away.

She said she wanted to wait to take pictures.
~~~~~
And hooray, today is the day we got to open the box!
~~~~~

~~~~~
Thank you so much Samantha, Tigger and your mom too!
I had so much fun!
Toesday on the Porch
Today it was 74 degrees out
and only two days before Thanksgiving,
which also happens to be my 1st Blogoversary!
~~~~~
Of course I had to spend time out in my screened-in porch.
I was watching to see
if the chipmunks would come out from under the deck.
~~~~~
While watching you can see that I have very good toe positioning;
both front paws are aligned
so that my toes point directly in front of me.
Even when I turn to look at the birds eating from the bird feeders,
my toes continue to be aligned.
I believe that this photo also shows my tummy quite nicely!
Honey
I met this Shiba Inu at Cap 3000, the big shopping centre just outside Nice - beyond the airport. They are originally from Japan, although her owner told me that Honey was bred in the United States. Inu is Japanese for dog. The Shiba Inu is the smallest of the Japanese native breeds of dog and was originally developed for hunting by sight and scent in dense undergrowth. There are more Shiba Inus in Japan than any other breed and it was in 7000 BC that the ancestors of today's Shiba may have accompanied the earliest immigrants to Japan.
Bichon or bichon?
We at the Saturday market in Menton today. This market is held outside the main covered market. This little dog is a Bichon Maltais, I believe - what is called in other countries, a Maltese Terrier. It's hard to tell - perhaps it's a Bichon Frisé but with rather a straight coat. Anyway she's cute.
BCK: On Purpose or On Accident
It's time for the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos
and the optional theme is: On Purpose or On Accident.
So, there are bands in my food bowl and in my water bowl...
It could have been an accident or it could have been on purpose?????
~~~ what's that over there??? ~~~ ~~~~~~~ it's still in my water bowl... ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ what, now food too??? ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ maybe I can get it... ~~~~~~~~I'd really like some food... ~~~~~~~~~~~ China, do you think that you could look up
and be really cute and get some food for us???????~~~~~
~~~~I don't know.....maybe......~~~~~~~~Hi, did you notice that the kitties are hungry?????~~~~~~We finally have some food...
And don't forget,
Weekend Cat Blogging is at Paulchen's Food Blog,
the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos is being hosted
by Kashim & Othello at The Catboys Realm and
Carnival of the Cats is over at Pet's Garden Blog.
Market dog - 2
This black cocker spaniel is often sitting here outside the main market in Menton and near one of the outside stalls whilst his owner works. He looks resigned - 'Okay, I'm here for the morning and I'd better make the best of it.' Dogs are great, aren't they? So long as they are with us, they are happy.
Forgot until Friday
I have two Halloween pictures that I wanted to post today.
I was going to post them earlier but I forgot.
~~~~~
This picture was taken right by my front door
and the decorations are always different for different holidays.
I like to sit up here and look out the front door,
but right now I am not looking out of the front door.
Tabbycat likes to dress up for the holidays but I don't.
That's why when I sit here with Tabbycat, I look more festive too!
Outside my front door you can see that there was a table
with my pumpkin and some black cats with cobs of corn
decorated for Halloween.
My Food Lady discovered that someone
had been eating the decorative corn
and scattered it all over the porch.
Someone even grabbed a big cob and took it under the bush
to finish eating the corn.
I think that it is a squirrel as one was seen running
when the door opened.
~~~~~
My responsibility was to alert my Food Lady when the culprit reappeared and then we would know for sure who ate the corn.
~~~~~
The sad part is I never found the culprit
and my Food Lady has since cleaned up the front porch.
