Foxy Roxy

Roxy is only eleven months old but already knows how beautiful she is. In the main photo she looks as if she's hatching a plot to steal all the dog biscuits - but of course she wasn't. She was quite shy with the big dogs until she got used to them but later shared a bed with a Labrador.Roxy lives in Monaco.

Milou

Milou, the Cavalier King Charles, is 10 years old - perhaps he has bad legs and can't walk much. Perhaps he's spoiled. Here he is in the pedestrian street of Menton.Look at those loooooong ears...

Frimousse and the Interloper
I never did get to ask the name of the dachshund but can tell you that the puppy is called Frimousse and she is a Ruby coloured Cavalier aged 5 months. She was on holiday near to Menton, staying in Tende in the mountains and comes from the north of France.

Dogs of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small breed of dog of Spaniel type, usually considered one of the toy dog breeds. It is a small spaniel with a substantial silky coat of moderate length, often with a mild wave, and long ears. Four colors (Blenheim, Tricolor, Black and Tan, and Ruby) are recognized. The breed originated in the 20th century, though has its roots in the older King Charles Spaniel of the Restoration.(Wikipedia)
The Cavalier is quite intelligent and easy to train. For example they seem to be able to learn (and remember) tricks (lay down, roll over, shake, etc.) within a day or two. They can be easily trained to do other things with a good treat.(Wikipedia)
The breed is highly affectionate, and some have called the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "the ultimate lap dog" or the "love sponge" of dogs. Most dogs of the breed are playful, extremely patient and eager to please.(Wikipedia)
Cavaliers can suffer from a number of severe genetic defects. Unfortunately, two possible genetic conditions, mitral valve disease and syringomyelia, can be both severe and very common.(Wikipedia)

Doggone Easy
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels must be one of the easiest dogs to own. I always say I could have twenty Cavaliers en pension and not know it! Here you see a pup at the Brocante in Menton a week or so ago. I think she's ready to have a game with a ball but she's being patient. All dogs would rather be with their owners than left at home - so all in all, fine. She's too cute, isn't she? All legs and arms like a colt.

Crocus, the Florist's dog
Good name for a Flower Shop Dog. Crocus is two years old and belongs to the owner of my favourite flower shop in Carnoles, which is part of Roquebrune-cap-Martin.
Below you see him standing in the window. He's always happy to see me because I smell of dogs - so he spends the whole of my visit sniffing my jeans, much to the dismay of his owner. I'm used to dogs sniffing my jeans...so no big deal.

It's a dog's life
Can't be bad being a dog, can it? This little chap looks so contented, he's fallen asleep in his master's arms under the old elm tree of Gorbio. Old indeed - it was planted in 1713.
